What is the mission of the Museum?
The Seminole Tribe of Florida's Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum collects, preserves, protects and interprets Seminole culture and history - inspiring and appreciation of the Seminole people.
Where is the Museum? How do I get there?
The Museum s located on the Big Cypress Reservation along I-75 between Naples and Ft. Lauderdale. Please click here for detailed directions.
How much does it cost to visit?
At our Big Cypress location, admission is $9.00 for adults and $6.00 for students and seniors. Various discounts are available, click here for more details.
Are there tours available?
Yes, guided tours are available every day at 2:30 pm or you can call ahead (863) 902-1113 and arrange a tour at any time you would like.
Do I have to make reservations to visit the Museum?
No, you do not need reservations but if you have a group of 10 or more people, it is suggested that you call ahead.
Are group discounts available?
Yes, for groups of ten or more, the admission is $5.00 at Big Cypress
Is there a gift shop or store?
Yes, the museum store carries books, clothing, and wonderful Native American crafted items, for sale.
Is there gas and/or food nearby?
On the Big Cypress Reservation there is a gas station and some local eateries.
Where can I get lunch?
On the Big Cypress location you have four local establishments to choose from.
How long does it take to see all the Museum exhibits?
In general, we think it takes about 2 hours to fully experience our location in Big Cypress.
How long is the boardwalk? Is there any seating along the boardwalk?
The boardwalk in Big Cypress is just over a mile long and there are seating areas every 1/8 of a mile or so.
Are the Museum and boardwalk handicapped accessible?
Yes, all areas of both museums are handicap accessible.
How often do the exhibits change?
We have rotating gallery space at each location, these exhibits change every 6-12 months. Please check out our "Traveling Exhibits" page for more details.
Are there educational or cultural programs available?
Yes, our Education, Outreach and Traditional Arts programs have extensive programming, please click here for more details.
Is there Membership? How do I join?
Yes, the museum has an active membership campaign. You can join by clicking here or calling (954) 364-5201.
What other museum affiliations does Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki have?
Our museum is affiliated with the American Association of Museums, the Smithsonian and the Florida Association of Museums.
How do I pronounce Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki and what does it mean?
The phonetic spelling of Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki is A-tha-the-ge. This is a Mikasuki word and like any language it can be pronounced differently depending on who is speaking.

I am doing research for paper that is due tomorrow. Is there a person on staff that can answer my questions?
The Museum staff welcome public interest in learning about the Seminoles; however, staff need time to prepare materials for academic research. Requests for interviews with Tribal members may not be able to be fulfilled. For more information about research Click here.
